To create positive change in education, HOOPS4SCHOOLS announces its launch for August 2024. HOOPS4SCHOOLS represents a shift towards transforming lives through education, inspired by the belief that education, training, and employment are important forces of change.
The ethos of HOOPS4SCHOOLS is inspired by the quote from Helen Keller, “Alone we can do so little; Together we can do so much.” It’s a call to action, inviting individuals and businesses to join hands in support of youth education. The 20-day challenge, commencing on Friday, 16th August and culminating in the Corporate Challenge on Friday, 6th September, aims to raise $80,000 to empower young minds and open doors to brighter futures.
The brainchild of The BUSY School, HOOPS4SCHOOLS is fueled by a shared commitment to address the disengagement crisis in the education sector. Reflecting on the initiative, the Managing Director of The BUSY Group Paul Miles said, “We are driven to find a way to re-engage young people with their education and move the needle at a large scale. With new campuses continually opening, The BUSY School is a part of the solution, but the entire crisis needs more awareness.”
These sentiments were echoed by the CEO of The BUSY School Lee Aitken, who emphasised the need for comprehensive support for students who don’t conform to traditional schooling, stating, “The wrap-around services needed to support young people who don’t do well in traditional, mainstream schooling are extensive. These services include mental health support, individualised education plans, access to transport and personal development – all with the aim of supporting young people to complete their education and start their vocational pathway.”
