As January 2025 approaches, The BUSY School is preparing to welcome a new cohort of Year 11 students, re-engaging at risk youth with their education. With a track record of personalised learning and wrap-around services supporting wellbeing, education and employment outcomes, The BUSY School is ready to meet the needs of a growing student body and more complex student needs.
“Reflecting on the accomplishments of our 2024 graduates, we are not only celebrating their success but also looking ahead to a year of growth and opportunity.” said Bill Weigall, General Manager of The BUSY School. “In 2025, we anticipate an increase in student intake as we continue our commitment to serving Queensland’s marginalised and disengaged young people. The future holds exciting possibilities as we expand our reach and impact more lives.”
As the student population expands, so does the school itself. The newly opened Strathpine Campus is set to begin Phase 2 of its construction, providing additional resources and facilities to support student needs. Similarly, the Shailer Park Campus will officially celebrate the completion of a construction project to expand the campus’ capacity later this year, marking a significant milestone in the school’s ongoing efforts to serve more students and communities.
Behind the scenes, The BUSY School is also responding to increasing community demand by researching potential geographic expansions. With a commitment to serving more students in more areas, the school is exploring new ways to address educational disengagement across Australia.
Corporate partnerships, fundraising, and donations continue to play a crucial role in sustaining the school’s services. In 2024, The BUSY School advanced these initiatives, dedicating focused efforts to business sustainability and ensuring that essential wrap-around services, which go beyond government funding, remain in place for every student.
The BUSY School’s unique approach to education has already made a profound difference in the lives of its students. As one 2024 graduate shared, “My previous school wasn’t so great. I wasn’t getting much learning done, the teachers weren’t that helpful towards me—it was a struggle. I wasn’t taking a good path there.”
Another student reflected on their personal transformation, saying, “My attendance was really low, 20% at my previous school, and now it’s around 98% at The BUSY School.”
This commitment to personalised care and support resonates with many students. “All the teachers are really caring, willing to help. I like talking to all my teachers,” said one graduate, while another added, “The format of learning is different, and the first couple of weeks can feel strange but it’s worth it.”
The BUSY School’s approach doesn’t just help students academically, it redefines how they see education. “I didn’t know education could be fun. Not just learning because I have to—the teachers care, they have fun, and they want to teach. The environment is happy,” shared a student who found joy in learning for the first time.
Perhaps the most telling endorsement came from a student who captured the essence of the school’s impact: “Wow, this year was better than the past seven years in education.”
As 2025 begins, The BUSY School is ready to inspire and support a new group of Year 11 students, helping to give the tools for young people to re-engage with education and contribute to your future workforce.
