Basketball Queensland Backs Hoops4Schools

Basketball Queensland Backs Hoops4Schools

Basketball Queensland has joined forces with The BUSY School to support the Hoops4Schools initiative, a national awareness and fundraising campaign helping the 20% of Australian teenagers who are currently disengaged from mainstream education.

Uniting the power of education, sport, and community, this partnership will elevate the reach and impact of the Hoops4Schools 20-Day Challenge (15 August – 4 September 2025) and the Corporate Challenge (5 September 2025, Gold Coast), engaging schools, businesses, and communities across the country.

Basketball Queensland’s General Manager of Business, Kimberley Hibbert, said it was an easy decision to get behind the campaign.

“We’re proud to support The BUSY School and their ongoing work in creating alternative education options for young people. Basketball already plays such a strong role in helping kids build confidence, connection and resilience, and this campaign takes that one step further by putting education front and centre.”

Paul Miles, Managing Director of The BUSY Group, echoed that sentiment, highlighting the purpose behind the campaign.

“This initiative is about reminding people that not all students thrive in the same environment, and that support networks truly matter. Having the support of Basketball Queensland and bringing together young people in communities across Queensland is a powerful way to start this important conversation.

“It’s the ripple effect, recognising disengagement in education and choosing to be part of the solution. Hoops4Schools makes it fun, accessible, and, for those 20 days, focused on making real impact.”
