The Vital Role of Youth Workers at The BUSY School

The Vital Role of Youth Workers at The BUSY School

At The BUSY School, success is more than academics—it’s personal, emotional, and life-changing. For Nicola, The BUSY School Cleveland Campus Youth Worker, the transformation she sees in students is what drives her passion every single day.

Youth Workers like Nicola are a key part of the wraparound services that make The BUSY School model unique. “I love my job,” says Nicola.  “Young people just want to be heard and understood. When they feel understood, they thrive. We build rapport and trust, so students feel safe coming to us, whether it’s about challenges at home, struggles with learning, or just needing someone to talk to.”

The role of Youth Workers goes far beyond traditional support. It’s about being present, being real, and treating every student with the same care and concern they would give their own children.

Nicola further explains, “Success at BUSY isn’t measured by grades alone—it’s when a student who once walked in with their walls up is now smiling, making friends, engaging in class, and opening up to the people around them. It’s when school becomes a place they want to be.”

Nicola highlights the collaborative spirit that sets The BUSY School apart. “We’re lucky to have a team of passionate professionals who all share a common goal: helping our students succeed in life, not just in school.”

Students at The BUSY School often find a sense of belonging and purpose that has been missing in other educational environments.

“The school allows flexibility and supports emotional wellbeing,” says Nicola. “We don’t want our students to just survive school—we want them to thrive in life.”
