Our Expectations of Behaviour at BUSY Schools
At BUSY Schools we have four expectations for behaviour to enable and support students in preparing themselves for life in the workplace, as well as in society as a whole. These four simple but important expectations are:
- Be a Learner
- Be Safe
- Be Respectful
- Be Strong
The school follows the Code of Behaviour when managing school behaviours. The Code of Behaviour is provided to all students upon enrolment.
BUSY Schools has a zero-tolerance stance on bullying. Students found to be bullying others will be referred to the enrolment agreement and the Code of Behaviour, and firm consequences will be implemented, as well as support to assist the student in modifying their behaviour and to be more accepting of others.
Any actions of violence will lead to immediate cancellation of enrolment and a referral to support services to assist the student in dealing with their anger. Our students have come from a range of backgrounds and many have already witnessed enough violence or regularly dealt with negative attention. They come to us for a second chance and a safe and supportive environment, and this can only happen for them if they are allowed to feel safe.
Students are able to speak openly and honestly to the school youth worker, as well as any other staff member, if they need support with their emotions or in dealing with any circumstances of harm or bullying.
