SUPPORTING SKILLS FOR CAREER PATHWAYS
Your business can provide valuable work experience, share industry information or offer school-based apprenticeship and traineeship opportunities for our students.
The BUSY School supports all career pathways for young people and would value industry support from any business employer that helps our students step positively into their career futures after graduation.
Work Experience for Students
The BUSY School students appreciate work experience opportunities which provide valuable opportunities to step outside the classroom and immerse themselves in a real workplace environment.
By engaging in day-to-day tasks alongside industry professionals, students gain practical skills, build confidence and develop an understanding of workplace expectations. These include soft skills such as teamwork, communication and responsibility. This firsthand exposure allows them to explore different industries, test their interests and see how their studies align with future career path choices. Work experience also gives them a competitive edge when applying for apprenticeships, further training or employment.
Undertaking work experience also supports students to successfully complete Vocational Education and Training (VET). The BUSY School students complete multiple VET courses during their time at The BUSY School.
Can your business provide work experience?
Are you looking to support a work experience student? Hosting a student can bring fresh ideas and enthusiasm to your workplace, while also providing extra support with day-to-day tasks. It’s a great way to build potential future talent and contribute to your local community – while supporting a young person’s future.
Placements are flexible and short-term, making them easy to fit around business operations – and your staff may also benefit with valuable mentoring opportunities. There are no wage costs involved and all insurance is fully covered by The BUSY School, meaning you can support the next generation with confidence while strengthening your business.
Looking for a school-based apprentice or trainee?
Hosting a school-based apprentice or trainee is a rewarding way for your business to invest in the future workforce while gaining real value in the workplace. The BUSY School students combine their school studies and vocational training with hands-on, paid employment (typically one day per week), giving them the chance to learn industry skills directly from experienced staff.
For employers, it provides an opportunity to develop young talent, build staff mentoring capacity, and contribute to the community by supporting career pathways for young people. With flexible arrangements designed to suit both the workplace and the student’s timetable, hosting a school-based apprentice or trainee helps create a strong pipeline of skilled workers for the future.
