Source:

Southern Cross Transit is looking for a motivated Fleet & Facilities Management Cadet to join their Ipswich team.

This is a paid, full-time entry-level position for someone who has an interest in vehicles, transport and fleet operations and wants to develop a career in fleet management.

You’ll gain practical, hands-on experience in the coordination and administration involved in keeping a passenger transport fleet safe, reliable and operating efficiently.

As a Fleet & Facilities Management Cadet, you’ll develop skills across areas including:

  • Workshop administration and day-to-day coordination
  • Vehicle servicing schedules and maintenance planning
  • Work orders, defect reports and repair records
  • Fleet compliance, inspections and documentation
  • Parts ordering, stock control and supplier liaison
  • Vehicle registrations, records and fleet databases
  • Coordinating vehicle movements and workshop priorities
  • Communicating with drivers, workshop staff and management
  • Workplace health and safety procedures

Important: This is a fleet management cadetship, not a mechanical apprenticeship. The role would suit someone who enjoys working around vehicles but is also organised, comfortable with computers and interested in records, coordination and communication.

You could be a good fit if you are:

  • Reliable and ready to work
  • Positive and willing to learn
  • Interested in vehicles, workshops or transport
  • Organised and attentive to detail
  • Comfortable learning new computer systems
  • A good communicator
  • Able to work safely and professionally in a busy workshop environment
  • Interested in building a long-term career

A current driver licence would be an advantage but is not essential.

You’ll receive hands-on training and mentoring while learning how the workshop, maintenance systems and wider transport operation work together. The position is based in Ipswich and is paid full-time employment, with wages and conditions in accordance with the applicable industrial instrument.
